The Highlands might be known for summer events, but we have plenty of fun things going on in the winter, too! Here are just a few of the holiday celebrations you’ll find around town:
December 31st: Pick Your Favorite New Year’s Eve Party
Everyone in the Highlands will be ringing in the new year, so you have your pick of celebrations. Remember that entry fees don’t cover gratuities, so be ready to tip your server for working on the holiday.
- Sir Sam’s Inn & Spa will be hosting a lovely New Year’s Eve dinner, followed by dancing and a fireworks show. The event starts at 4:45 pm.
- Pinestone Resort is presenting a three-course dinner with a champagne toast at midnight. Dinner starts at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $99 per couple.
- Bonnie View Inn will be celebrating with a live performance by the Rockin’ Bobs. The event starts at 6:00 pm, and the band comes on at 9:00. Tickets are $75 per person.
- Red Umbrella Inn will be going all night with a winter bonfire and a late-night taco and nacho bar. The party starts at 6:00 pm.
December 31st: Howl in the New Year at the Haliburton Forest Wolf Centre
If you’re looking for a truly unique way to celebrate the end of the decade, you definitely need to check out Haliburton Forest and Wildlife‘s take on a New Year’s event. Show up at 5:30 pm for a light dinner; then, strap on a pair of snowshoes and enjoy an exclusive after-hours tour of the Wolf Centre. The event ends at 10:00 pm, so you’ll have plenty of time to head back to your preferred destination for drinks and fireworks.
These events are just a small sample of the holiday celebrations you’ll find in the Highlands this winter season. Whether you spend the time bundled up in your home/cottage or skiing through the surrounding terrain, holidays in the Highlands are always a blast.
Happy holidays to you and yours! – AVL
